Plantar warts / Papilloma / Verruca Mornington Peninsula

Plantar warts (also known as Verruca and Papillomas) are a very common skin condition in children, affecting up to 20% (1 in 5) during their school years. Warts are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus and often spread through the use of communal areas such as swimming pools and wet/bathing areas.

The podiatrists at South Coast Foot Clinic in Mount Martha frequently treat warts on children’s feet. These can include mosaic warts (large clusters of warts) and smaller and large individual warts.

Before treatment begins – some of the information we are keen to know about include:

1. Is the wart painful and or can you feel it under your foot when walking
2. Has the wart changed in size recently?
3. Has the wart spread (are there more lesions that there were initially)
4. Do you play sport?
